Which Al Ambra suits you?
Four scents, four directions. This is a route through the differences, using the notes, the labels and what the brand itself says about each scent.
1. Start from the direction
The note lists of the four scents point four different ways.
- Musk with a little fruit and flower: Dubai Musk. Mandarin, bergamot and black currant, then sandalwood and magnolia, then musk.
- Citrus and tropical fruit over spice, tea and wood: Ravenna. Lemon, bergamot, orange, pineapple and mango, then ginger, cinnamon and neroli, then black tea, guaiac wood, rosemary and ambroxan.
- Short and dry: Black Forest. Grapefruit, ambroxan and woody notes, and nothing else on the list.
- A clean floral with a soft base: Black Forest Elixir. Aldehydes, white peach and citrus, then orange blossom and lily of the valley, then musk, vanilla and patchouli.
2. Or start from a note
If you already know which notes you like, the notes page shows which scent lists which note. Bergamot is in three of the four. Ambroxan is in three as well. Musk is in Dubai Musk and Black Forest Elixir. Vanilla is only in Elixir, tea only in Ravenna, grapefruit only in Black Forest.
3. Eau de parfum or extrait de parfum?
This will not help you choose: according to the labels and the brand's own product pages, all four are extraits de parfum. An extrait de parfum contains a higher concentration of fragrance oil than an eau de parfum. The shop still files Ravenna and Black Forest as eau de parfum; the scent pages explain where each statement comes from.
4. How far should it carry?
We have no measurements of our own, so this is what the brand says on its own product pages. It describes Dubai Musk and Black Forest as light scents that stay close to the skin, and Black Forest Elixir as moderate. For Ravenna the brand gives no such description.
5. Seasons
The brand suggests Dubai Musk, Black Forest and Black Forest Elixir for spring and summer. For Ravenna the brand names no season; the shop lists summer, autumn and winter. Treat all of it as a suggestion.

Torn between two?
Two pairs have their own page: Black Forest or Black Forest Elixir, which share a name and little else, and Dubai Musk or Ravenna, the two scents people look for most.
You cannot try first
At our last check the shop listed no samples of Al Ambra, so a full 50 ml bottle is the only way in. Read sizes and samples and the shop's returns policy before you order.
Or see what others choose
Of the four scents, Dubai Musk is the one that has been ordered most in the shop.
